SUPPORT GREENS4GREENS
The Newburgh & Beacon Farmers' Markets refuse to leave SNAP recipients out in the cold.
**We are so grateful to our community for showing up for Food Access! After seeing such an incredible response–and knowing the need for food assistance is greater than ever–we've raised our goal once again to $20,000. ALL of the money raised here and this Saturday at Soup4Greens Newburgh will go towards coupon distribution to meet community need.**
Greens4Greens is a community powered program that extends the purchasing power of people who count on benefits at the farmers' market in Newburgh and Beacon.
We’re responding in real time to the shutdown’s impact by extending our Greens4Greens program so that those in need can keep fresh, local food on the table.
Throughout November, the Beacon and Newburgh market managers are issuing $30 in emergency Greens4Greens coupons to SNAP/EBT cardholders every market day. No one will be turned away for lack of SNAP funds.
We aim to continue this program for the duration of the shutdown or as long as we have funding.
If you have the means, please consider sponsoring emergency Greens4Greens in $30 increments to directly help our SNAP neighbors access fresh, local food.
You can also support Greens4Greens by joining us at our annual Soup4Greens Newburgh event on November 8th at Safe Harbors Green. This annual community event features soup from local restaurants and handmade bowls from the Newburgh Pottery. All proceeds from this event will go to fuel the Greens4Greens program.
